The 2023-2024 Year in Review

The impact of the work of the Northern Communities Health Foundation continues to grow. With the release of the Foundation’s 2023-2024 Impact Report, we are pleased to note that over the last 26 years of working to support better health outcomes in Adelaide’s northern communities, the Foundation has seeded some $10.6 million in funding, with many of the researchers and initiatives supported going on to deliver national research outcomes benefiting the health of all Australians.
The Social Prescribing Project was launched in 2024, aiming to enable General Practitioners to better support their ageing patients at home, and to facilitate connecting increasingly isolated older people back to their communities.
An important element of this project is enabling and supporting local councils to increase the community programs for older people, and upskill their volunteer teams to collate and offer resources for local general practices, where people are likely to seek support. Implementation and evaluation of this project will continue in 2025.
The Foundation is always proud to support early career researchers and we were pleased to recognise and support the work of outstanding students through the Florey Postgraduate Student Conference Prize and the Derek Frewin Early Career Early Researcher Awards.
